As the holiday season approaches, the Ocean City Police Department is beginning to help Worcester County GOLD collect toys for their Annual Holiday Toy Drive.

All toys will be provided to Worcester County GOLD as part their “Helping Hands for the Holidays” program.

The program aims to help collect new and unwrapped items for both children and adults.

We are told last year they gave gifts to over 600 children and 80 adults.

They said because we are in a pandemic they expect that need to be even greater, so they hope everyone will step up to help those in need.

“A lot people have been effected by some of the shutdowns whether it’s economically or a mental, emotional way so that way if you’re able to give back any way to the community you know that you are uplifting your community members,” Ashley Miller, Deputy Communication Manager, said.

The police department will be collecting items until Dec. 9.

To donate items, all you need to do is drop them off in the Ocean City Police department lobby.

Worcester County GOLD is looking for items that cost under $40 dollars and they are asking that no one donate bikes, video games, or weapons.
