A 17-year-old is facing charges after police say he put a gun to a woman’s head and even pulled the trigger before someone struck his arm, causing the shot to miss and possibly saving the woman’s life.

Police say the entire ordeal happened last Thursday just before 2 p.m. at an apartment on Willis Road. Once arriving, police say they learned the 17-year-old male was in a domestic argument and that’s when he put the gun to the victim’s head before a family member struck his arm, causing the bullet to hit a wall instead.

Police say the male then fired an additional three shots into the apartment. The male allegedly fled the scene, but turned himself in to Dover Police on Tuesday.

He now faces charges that include attempted first degree murder and assault of the second degree.
