Crime, education, discussed in Maryland gubernatorial debate

Crime, education and the economy were some leading issues discussed by eight candidates who are seeking Maryland’s Democratic nomination for governor in the state’s crowded primary. Their first statewide televised debate was to be broadcast Monday night. Several candidates used the Maryland Public Television debate to confront opponents they believe are near the top of the field in the crowded primary. Rushern Baker, Jon Baron, Peter Franchot, Doug Gansler, Ashwani Jain, John King, Wes Moore, and Tom Perez also debated about ethics, gas prices and mental health in the hourlong debate.
