It is being reported that several journalists have been arrested and charged with felony rioting offenses.
The reporters were arrested with over 200 other protesters during anti-Donald Trump demonstrations in Washington D.C. on inauguration day (1/20/2017). During the unrest some protesters were peaceful while others damaged property by setting fires and throwing objects. The arrest documents for the journalists imply that they were arrested for destroying property or violating rioting laws but no records list wrong-doing from any of the individual journalists. Some of the media outlets that the journalist work for believe that the arrests of the journalists are a violation of their first amendment right. The charges against the reporters are being reviewed by officials, if convicted they face up to 10 years in prison.
