One person is dead following a fire at a mobile home in Lewes that broke out early Thursday morning.

According to the Rehoboth Beach Volunteer Fire Company, the fire was reported just after midnight at a mobile home in the 23000 block of Lawrence Lane in the Angola Crest II Mobile Home development.

Fire officials said when crews first arrived, heavy fire was shown coming from the mobile home. As crews began to get control of the flames, they did a search of the home. Fire officials said that's when they found the body of a woman in the back bedroom.

The woman's identity has not been released. Her body was transported to the DE Division of Forensic Science for an autopsy.

Firefighters from Rehoboth Beach, Lewes, and Indian River responded, as well as the Delaware State Police and Sussex County EMS.

The Delaware State Fire Marshal's office is investigating the cause of the fire. Heavy fire damage was estimated at $30,000.
